A woman charged with harassing Kate McCann reportedly recorded her a voicemail message which posed: "suppose I am Madeleine?"

Julia Wandelt, 24, who court testimony revealed has consistently claimed she was the disappeared Madeleine McCann, and her co-defendant are on trial indicted with pursuing Kate and Gerry McCann from June 2022 and February 2025.

On Monday, Leicester Crown Court heard call records and information recovered from phones recorded Ms Wandelt consistently requesting Madeleine's mother for a DNA test throughout that period.

Madeleine's disappearance in 2007 - as a three-year-old during a vacation in Portugal - is one of the most covered investigations and is still unsolved.

A separate phone message, shared in court, captured Ms Wandelt declaring: "I realize I'm heavy and unattractive like Madeleine had been, but I believe what I feel."

"I don't want money, I possess a living here in Poland, I simply desire to understand," the message continued.

The panel was informed that through emails, mobile messages and phone calls, Ms Wandelt demanded a biological test, sent youth pictures to her phone in a attempt to show a likeness to Mrs McCann's vanished daughter, and asserted to have "memories" from a childhood with the McCanns.

An intelligence analyst, a data specialist with Leicestershire Police who collated the information, advised the court there "didn't appear to be any responses" from Mrs McCann.

Ms Wandelt additionally communicated with close associates of the McCanns, as per the call data.

On October 9th, 2024, the father answered a communication from Ms Wandelt to his wife's phone, declaring she had "incorrect contact information."

The court learned Mrs Spragg struck up a relationship through digital means with Ms Wandelt prior to accompanying her on a trip to the McCanns' home in that area in last December.
