The forty-third annual Golden Joystick Awards were hosted this past week, and through an impressive show, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 claimed the title of the most decorated winner. This standout role-playing game from Sandfall Interactive earned the prestigious Ultimate Game of the Year award, along with honors for Best Storytelling and Excellence in Visuals.
Complementing the studio's achievements, the gifted cast also garnered personal awards. Jennifer English won Best Lead Performer for her portrayal as Maelle, while Ben Starr earned Best Supporting Actor for his role as Verso. Moreover, Sandfall Interactive the studio was honored as Studio of the Year. Overall, Clair Obscur and its makers achieved seven awards throughout the event.
Other major winners featured Ghost of Yōtei, which was awarded Best Audio Design and Console Game of the Year, and Hollow Knight: Silksong, winning Top Self-Published Indie and PC Game of the Year. It is important to note, the majority of Golden Joystick Awards are voted on by the public, with only four awards—Critics’ Choice, Breakthrough, Lifetime Achievement, and Streamers’ Choice—decided by critics.
