The NFL franchise issued a statement on Wednesday evening indicating they are aware of claims of abuse made public in social media posts by a ex-partner of wide receiver the athlete and had been in communication with the NFL.
The organization did not mention the player specifically in their announcement and said they would have “no further comment at this time”.

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who also did not mention Rice directly, shared a series of photos on social media that appeared to show signs of physical abuse. Jones did say the individual in question was the parent of her kids, and it is known she has kids with Rice, whom the team selected in the second round.
No official complaints were on file in Overland Park, Kansas where the incident is said to have occurred.
The receiver was absent for the initial part of this NFL campaign due to an league-mandated ban for his role in instigating a multi-vehicle accident on a Dallas highway that left several individuals injured. Rice was sentenced 30 days in jail and five years’ probation after pleading guilty to felony charges.
Statistically, he concluded the year with 53 receptions for 571 yards and five TDs as the Kansas City finished 6-11 and missed the playoffs for the first time in a ten-year span.
